Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join our team at Kleinfelder. As a key member of our geotechnical team, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and expertise in the planning, design, and construction of complex projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate services with internal and external teams to ensure successful project delivery
  • Perform geotechnical engineering design, construction support, and oversight
  • Manage projects from design through construction, ensuring timely and within-budget completion
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
  • Develop and implement geotechnical exploration programs, including laboratory testing and site characterization
  • Prepare geotechnical reports, drawings, and specifications for foundations and earthwork
  • Support project managers in budget management, client updates, and general project management tasks
  • Prepare and present technical presentations to clients and technical review boards
  • Supervise field observation, testing, and site visits
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience
  • Licensed geotechnical engineer, GE, or ability to complete within 1 year
  • Proven experience in geotechnical levee design, seepage analysis, and slope stability of embankments
  • Proven experience in design of shallow, mat, and deep foundations, and design of retaining walls
  • Proven experience providing construction support as geotechnical engineer of record
  • Proven experience being a trusted advisor to clients of all sizes
  • Proven experience assisting clients from design through construction
  • Proven experience in leading diverse project teams
  • Proven experience in capturing business development opportunities, preparing proposals, and/or leading technical aspects of large pursuits
  • Proven experience managing and mentoring staff
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering
  • Recognized leader in the field of geotechnical engineering
  • Ability to develop highly motivated individuals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently or in multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience planning, implementing, and managing geotechnical exploration programs
  • Experience guiding staff engineers in performing material and site characterization, foundation recommendations, slope stability, and settlement analyses
  • Experience preparing geotechnical reports, drawings, and specifications for foundations and earthwork
  • Experience supporting project managers in budget management, client updates, and general project management tasks
  • Experience preparing and presenting technical presentations to clients and technical review boards
  • Experience supervising field observation, testing, and site visits
