Position Overview

ECS Limited is on the lookout for a skilled Geotechnical Project Engineer to become a vital part of our team. In this capacity, you will play a key role in enhancing project efficiency, providing technical guidance, ensuring adherence to quality standards, and expanding your support across various departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage in the creation of geotechnical documentation, including thorough analysis and actionable recommendations, with a strong emphasis on meeting project timelines.
  • Deliver comprehensive project management services throughout the project lifecycle and foster effective collaboration with all involved parties.
  • Participate in or lead project discussions with clients to review submitted reports and offer technical solutions as required.
  • Conduct slope stability assessments, bearing capacity evaluations, and settlement analyses.
  • Assist in the correct execution of foundation designs, retaining structures, and other geotechnical systems.
  • Oversee field investigations, including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing, while addressing rig access challenges.
  • Prepare drilling documentation and secure utility clearances.
  • Classify soil samples and determine necessary laboratory testing.
  • Monitor the performance of geotechnical installations and suggest maintenance or corrective actions as needed.
  • Engage in risk evaluations and formulate strategies to mitigate ground-related challenges.
  • Advise on soil enhancement methods, including compaction techniques and the application of geosynthetics.
  • Manage construction materials testing (CMT) projects, reviewing daily reports, resolving issues, and training field personnel on your projects.
  • Draft both geotechnical and CMT proposals to support business development initiatives.
  • Stay informed about the latest industry standards, guidelines, and best practices.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution is required. Related degrees will be considered with documented experience in geotechnical reporting and civil engineering principles.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, ideally encompassing a mix of residential, commercial, and public sector infrastructure projects.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) certification is mandatory.
  • Proficient understanding of geotechnical and construction materials testing ASTM standards.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within teams, with clients, peers, and subordinates, as well as work independently.
  • Solid grasp of soil mechanics principles.
  • Familiarity with foundation engineering and slope stability assessments.
  • Competence in utilizing geotechnical software for analysis and design tasks, including PLAXIS, GeoStudio, gINT, LPILE/Allpile, among others.
