The Vocational Rehabilitation Consultant (VRC) plays a crucial role in delivering rehabilitation services and medical case management to individuals recovering from workplace injuries. This position involves collaboration with clients, insurers, healthcare providers, employers, legal representatives, and other stakeholders to facilitate the client's swift return to meaningful employment.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients to evaluate their level of disability and determine the appropriateness of vocational rehabilitation services. Establish viable job objectives that align with clients' interests, skills, and physical capabilities, while supporting the overarching goals of the Case Management department and CorVel. Offer job placement assistance to injured workers, which includes: Job Seeking Skills Training, resume crafting, mock interviews, and job goal development. Perform vocational testing, including Aptitude and Interest Assessments, Transferable Skills Analysis, and Employability Assessments. Execute labor market research through Labor Market Surveys and Analyses. Maintain clear communication with clients and stakeholders via phone and in-person interactions. Prepare detailed reports within established deadlines. Document all case-related activities thoroughly. Fulfill ongoing educational requirements as mandated by certifying organizations. Participate in committee meetings, customer service initiatives, and instructional programs as needed. Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Strong multitasking abilities in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment. Proficient in engaging with claims personnel, legal representatives, healthcare providers, and clients. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Ability to adhere to strict deadlines. Proficient in computer applications, particularly MS Office, including Excel. Excellent interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills. Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and relevant experience in Rehabilitation Counseling or a related discipline. Registration as a Qualified Rehabilitation Consultant (QRC) with the MN Department of Labor and Industry or the ability to obtain it. Willingness to pursue CRC or CDMS Certification. Familiarity with Managed Care or Workers' Compensation is preferred. Bilingual capabilities in Spanish or other languages are advantageous. Background as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Occupational Therapist (OT) is a plus.

Compensation:

CorVel employs a market-driven approach to compensation, with salary ranges varying based on location and other factors, including skills, experience, qualifications, and market conditions. Adjustments to salary may occur based on the assessment during the interview process.
