Overview:
The AAA AuthN team is tasked with developing robust, high-availability systems that authenticate customer credentials across Datadog. These systems are integral to every request processed by Datadog, ensuring that backend services can securely and reliably verify the identity of incoming requests.

Role Responsibilities:
As the Engineering Manager for the AAA AuthN team, you will:
  • Lead and guide a diverse team of software engineers, focusing on performance management and career advancement.
  • Identify and prioritize impactful initiatives, ensuring the team delivers on clear timelines.
  • Enhance the team's strategic roadmap by setting inspiring objectives and translating them into measurable key results.
  • Guarantee the continuous availability of team services, adhering to well-defined Service Level Objectives (SLOs).
  • Contribute to the technical direction and architectural choices of the team.
  • Collaborate across departments to align the AAA AuthN team's objectives with Datadog's overarching strategic goals.

Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience managing a team of software engineers in delivering large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • At least 4 years of backend programming experience, with a proven track record in architecting, building, and operating distributed systems at scale.
  • Strong skills in cross-functional collaboration and adaptability in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • A strategic mindset with a history of translating complex technical challenges into actionable plans.
