Job Summary

The Chief Nursing Officer - Johns Hopkins Hospital is a senior leadership position responsible for ensuring the delivery of optimal patient care through the coordination of nursing and patient care services, maintenance of quality assurance standards, and the appropriate allocation and management of nursing resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Planning: Develops a comprehensive plan to achieve the hospital's objectives, aligning with the mission and vision of Johns Hopkins Health System.
  • Departmental Support: Establishes the structure and processes necessary for executing plans, assembling resources to meet business and clinical objectives.
  • Quality Assurance: Measures, interprets, and evaluates actions and results for conformance to plans and policies, ensuring standards of care and practice guide patient care services.
  • Leadership and Communication: Ensures timely and effective communication to ensure all nursing and patient care services areas receive adequate information on internal and external items affecting their operations.
  • Operational Management: Relates to the specific operational responsibilities of the hospital, evaluating, developing, and maintaining an institutional program for continuous quality service improvement.
Requirements
  • Education: Earned doctorate in nursing or related field, Master's degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing required.
  • Experience: Fifteen (15) years of progressively responsible nursing administration experience in an Academic Medical Center.
  • Knowledge and Skills: In-depth knowledge of nursing theory and practice, organizational management, finance, and administration, as well as expert verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills.
