Job Summary

The State of Maryland is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Chief Operating Officer to lead the operations of its Maximum Security Forensic Psychiatric Hospital. As a key member of the hospital's leadership team, the Chief Operating Officer will be responsible for providing executive-level leadership, budgetary and fiscal management, and strategic direction for the hospital's support services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide executive-level leadership and direction for the hospital's support services, including Dietary Services, Environment of Care, Plant Management, Fiscal Services, Security, Procurement/Contracts, Information Systems, Health Information Management, and Volunteer Services.
  • Exercise responsibility for the budgetary and fiscal management of the hospital, including an approximate $72 million budget and 630+ positions.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to improve hospital operations, patient care, and staff performance.
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership to develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
  • Provide guidance and support to hospital staff to ensure effective communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • At least five years of healthcare operations experience, including at least two years at the managerial or supervisory level.
  • Experience managing or supervising one or more hospital or residential care facilities support service units or departments.
  • Master's degree in hospital administration or a related field is preferred.
