About this role...
Situated in the vibrant fashion districts, our Buying Offices are central to our operations. Our merchandising team is adept at sourcing the finest brands and latest styles, delivering them to our customers at the value they expect. This segment of our business is perfect for individuals who thrive on the excitement of finding great deals and are eager to advance their careers.

The Merchandising Associate II position enhances your understanding of the merchandising landscape, preparing you for future roles in buying. We invest in your development through structured training and personalized mentorship with an experienced Buyer. This role supports the Buyer(s) in managing merchandising systems and assumes responsibility for critical processes. You will gain insights into the off-price retail sector through regular vendor interactions and performance analysis.

Your responsibilities and learning opportunities...

* Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with vendors. This involves attending in-person meetings and engaging in regular discussions to address challenges and explore market trends. You will develop skills in building rapport with vendors.

* Master our reporting processes to conduct actionable analyses and provide strategic recommendations to the Buyer. Manage merchandising systems while demonstrating an understanding of warehouse operations.

* Execute operational tasks accurately to support designated Buyer(s). This includes overseeing purchase orders and processing markdowns to ensure timely delivery of essential shipments.

* Provide timely and precise analysis of key business issues, making recommendations to the Buyer. This includes applying retail math skills to perform stock and other ad hoc analyses, monitoring regional merchandise reports, and managing Open-to-Buy.

* Demonstrate product expertise by sharing insights with Buyer(s) through frequent competitive shopping and market analysis. Take initiative to discover new resources and innovative sourcing methods to enhance the product assortment.

* Learn to comprehend and apply the concept of spending speed, including managing Open-to-Buy and understanding packaway strategies along with other key reporting metrics.

* A minimum of two years of retail merchandising experience in an Assistant Buyer role with significant vendor interaction is necessary.
