Overview of the Appeals Division

The Appeals Division is responsible for handling various administrative functions within the organization. This role involves supporting the Office of Appeals Shared Administrative Support, with opportunities available across multiple locations.

Key Responsibilities

The incumbent will perform a variety of duties, including but not limited to:

1. **Policy Analysis**: Evaluate existing and proposed office procedures to ensure compliance with established policies, clarity, and to prevent redundancy or conflicts with other directives. Recommend necessary corrective actions.

2. **Understanding Operational Perspectives**: Maintain a clear understanding of the Area Directors' viewpoints on various administrative challenges that do not require in-depth technical knowledge of Appeals issues.

3. **Trend Analysis**: Identify and review trends impacting administrative operations and propose new or revised procedures to address potential or existing challenges.

4. **Support for Operational Reviews**: Assist in operational reviews and special projects as directed by the Directors. Collect requested data and statistics, conduct research on various topics, and prepare documentation for reports and correspondence.

5. **File Management**: Develop and maintain systems for organizing and accessing both electronic and paper files, ensuring proper maintenance, transfer, and disposition of records.

6. **Confidential Documentation**: Manage confidential files for the Area Directors and prepare sensitive documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with privacy standards.

7. **Reporting**: Prepare and maintain regular and ad hoc reports using established formats and relevant information sources.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

- **Specialized Experience**: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level, which includes providing comprehensive office administrative support, preparing correspondence, managing calendars, and facilitating meetings.

- **Typing Proficiency**: Candidates must demonstrate typing proficiency with a minimum speed of 40 words per minute, alongside relevant office automation skills.

Education Requirements

Applicants must provide transcripts or equivalent documentation if qualifying through education. Degrees must be from accredited institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
