Position Overview

Carollo Engineers is a globally recognized firm specializing in environmental engineering, particularly in the design, planning, and construction of water and wastewater treatment facilities. We are looking for an Intermediate Controls and Instrumentation Engineer to deliver local I&C expertise, spearhead business development initiatives, and provide leadership within the discipline on various projects. Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with project managers and clients to define project requirements.
  • Develop detailed scopes of work for I&C systems and projects.
  • Lead design teams for medium to large-scale I&C projects.
  • Design PLC SCADA networks tailored for various system sizes.
  • Specify components for industrial fiber optic networks.
  • Create SCADA network block diagrams.
  • Select appropriate instrumentation for projects.
  • Generate P&IDs and develop control strategies.
  • Design layouts for control panels.
  • Prepare ISA data sheets and instrument site documentation.
  • Compile input/output point lists and review project submittals.
  • Draft specifications for instruments, networking equipment, and PLCs.
  • Estimate construction costs for I&C components.
  • Facilitate design workshops with clients, focusing on instrument preferences and HMI graphics.
  • Design radio telemetry SCADA systems utilizing various radio technologies.
  • Mentor junior Instrumentation Engineers and provide training.
  • Prepare technical reports and memorandums.
  • Oversee instrumentation aspects of medium to large I&C projects in water and wastewater sectors.
  • Conduct quality management reviews of I&C designs.
  • Participate in the ongoing development of I&C master specifications.
  • Create project-specific specifications for unique instrumentation needs.
  • Balance competing project demands and manage conflicting requirements.
  • Supervise other engineers and technicians to ensure high-quality work.
  • Delegate tasks effectively and monitor completion and quality.
  • Consult with team members on complex engineering challenges.
  • Engage in client interactions and business development activities.
  • Evaluate alternatives and determine actionable steps.
  • Make timely, implementable decisions.
  • Simplify complex engineering concepts for broader understanding.
  • Ensure attention to detail in calculations, drawings, and specifications.
  • Monitor project scope, schedule, and budget, adhering to the project plan.
  • Implement and uphold technical standards set by the company and clients.
  • Travel as necessary for project needs.
  • Conduct site visits to observe construction and operational phases.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.
  • 6-12 years of experience in electrical power and control systems within water, wastewater, and petrochemical industries.
  • Proficient in P&IDs, process control, logic diagrams, and control schematics, with experience in field construction and startup activities.
  • Professional Engineer registration or the ability to obtain it within six months.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.
