Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with project managers and clients
- Develop scopes of work for I&C systems and projects
- Lead I&C design teams for medium to large-scale projects
- Design PLC SCADA networks for extensive systems
- Specify industrial fiber optic networks and components
- Create SCADA network block diagrams
- Select appropriate instrumentation
- Develop P&IDs and control strategies
- Design control panel layouts
- Prepare ISA data sheets and instrument site specifications
- Compile input/output point lists
- Review project submittals
- Draft specifications for instruments, computers, networking equipment, and PLCs
- Estimate preliminary and final construction costs for I&C
- Engage with clients in design workshops regarding instrument preferences and HMI graphics
- Design radio telemetry SCADA systems using various radio technologies
- Mentor and train junior Instrumentation Engineers
- Prepare technical reports and memorandums
- Oversee the instrumentation aspects of medium to large instrumentation and control projects for water and wastewater facilities
- Conduct quality management reviews of instrumentation and control designs
- Participate in the ongoing development of I&C master specifications
- Create project-specific specifications for unique instrumentation applications
- Balance competing project demands and requirements
- Manage a team of instrumentation and control engineers and CADD technicians to ensure high-quality work
- Delegate tasks and monitor completion and quality
- Identify and consult on solutions for complex tasks
- Engage in client interactions and business development initiatives
- Evaluate alternatives and determine actionable steps
- Make timely and effective decisions
- Simplify complex instrumentation and control engineering concepts for broader understanding
- Ensure attention to detail in calculations, drawings, and specifications
- Monitor project scope, schedule, and budget
- Implement and uphold company and client technical standards
- Travel as necessary
- Conduct site visits during construction and operational phases
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering
- 6-12 years of experience in electrical power and control systems for water, wastewater, and petrochemical facilities
- Proficient in P&IDs, process control, logic diagrams, and control schematics
- Professional Engineer registration or ability to obtain within six months
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering
