Ground Systems Architect

Position Overview:
HX5 is a distinguished provider of engineering, research and development, and technical services to esteemed clients including NASA and the Department of Defense. As a rapidly expanding veteran- and woman-owned enterprise, HX5 is seeking a dedicated Ground Systems Architect to join our dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate effectively with NASA stakeholders, users, and both commercial and international partners to gather and negotiate requirements, user stories, and operational concepts, guiding these change requests through the systems engineering lifecycle.
  • Engage closely with the Principal Architect and Principal Network Architect, along with Procurement, Systems Engineers, Systems Administrators, Software Engineers, System Testers, Ground Operators, and Project Leads to facilitate modifications across all components of these intricate systems.
  • Conduct high-level requirement evaluations and assist in the detailed assessments carried out by the technical teams.
  • Develop and manage timelines for various work components.
  • Create and/or revise all documentation for design and change instruments, emphasizing meticulous attention to detail.
  • Draft vendor specifications for necessary hardware and storage systems, reviewing vendor proposals to ensure compliance with the specified requirements.
  • Perform analyses, assessments, trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to convert customer needs into hardware and software specifications.
  • Provide systems engineering support to the implementation teams.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal oversight while professionally representing the organization.
  • A highly motivated individual eager to learn and apply new concepts, tools, and software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly in interactions with other organizations.
  • Demonstrated personal initiative.
  • Proficient problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Capability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, are essential for client interactions.

Education and Experience:
This role necessitates robust expertise in Systems Engineering, Information Technology, and Software Development. Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree or have 10 years of relevant experience in these fields, showcasing demonstrable skills in Information Technology.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with ServiceNow or similar ITIL workflow tools.
  • Experience across various stages of the systems engineering lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, and documentation.
  • Knowledge of agile development methodologies.
  • Experience with SANs, Kubernetes containers, VPNs, and distributed systems.
  • Proficiency with DOORS Next Generation requirements management tool.
  • Experience with EXSI servers, VM instances, LANs, wireless networks, firewalls, Linux and Windows operating systems, and Intel-based systems.

Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week, offering a flexible work schedule during core business hours.

Additional Requirements:

  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency is mandatory for this position.
  • Must be able to undergo a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Willingness to travel, including air travel, is required.
