As a pivotal engineer, you will oversee system-level management of new products and processes throughout their lifecycle.

SNC is seeking a seasoned Systems Architect with expertise in integrating satellite and terrestrial systems. In this capacity, you will support critical mission partners, driving successful outcomes by utilizing your skills in satellite communications, terrestrial networking, and cloud solutions. You will be responsible for systems engineering, developing comprehensive communication architectures, and conducting specialized analyses, modeling, and simulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design network frameworks for space and ground systems adhering to interoperability standards to meet diverse data routing and optimization needs.
  • Provide expert knowledge and leadership in support of mission objectives.
  • Deliver advanced SATCOM assistance in operations, communications, coalition planning, cryptography, testing, and specialized analysis.
  • Engage in troubleshooting with system users and coordinate responses during system irregularities.
  • Offer guidance, mentorship, and professional development to team members.
  • Design secure wide-area connectivity that fulfills performance, quality of service, security, and mission criteria.
  • Incorporate capacity planning and scaling of network and security environments into the overall solution design.
  • Collaborate with information assurance teams to ensure compliance with standards and assist in providing necessary accreditation documentation.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field with 10-12 years of experience, or a master's degree with 8-10 years of experience.
  • Proficient understanding of cybersecurity best practices and design principles pertinent to the aerospace and defense sector.
  • Practical experience with systems engineering principles and methodologies.
  • Network certification meeting or exceeding CCNA standards (equivalent vendor certifications may be considered).
  • Active DoD IAT Level II certification or equivalent prior to employment.
  • Experience in documenting logical or physical designs using tools such as Visio, PowerPoint, or MagicDraw to illustrate systems, subsystems, interfaces, components, and communications.
  • RF experience with S-Band and KA Band communications.
  • Hands-on experience with Protected Military SATCOM systems.
  • Experience collaborating on multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, systems design, integration, technical risk management, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with requirements management and system modeling tools, such as DOORS, Rhapsody, NoMagic, or MATLAB.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard mechanical design principles, including requirements management and Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE).
  • Certification or experience with INCOSE standards.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.
  • Ability to manage baseline definition and development in complex settings, including high-impact trade studies.
  • Experience in establishing and tracking key Technical Performance Measurements (TPM).
  • Experience in Aerospace and Defense development environments.
  • Certified Cisco Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience with network management tools such as PaloAlto Panorama, SolarWinds, Cisco Prime, Cisco DNA, or Junos Space.
  • In-depth knowledge of DoD security requirements for network infrastructure.
  • Experience in hardening network infrastructure, including DoD STIG implementation.
  • Experience with early phases of program development lifecycle, including architecture definition, requirements development, and preliminary design.
