This position is integral to the Test & Flight Operations division, delivering centralized support to various business units with an emphasis on the design, construction, and upkeep of ground systems, testing, and launch facilities across multiple sites.

As a member of a dedicated and skilled team of professionals, you will be responsible for onboarding new initiatives into Blue Origin's Test and Flight Operations sectors, enhancing our testing and launch capabilities. The TFO team provides a wide array of testing and mission operation services that facilitate the successful execution of technical and programmatic mission assurance activities across launch systems, ground equipment, and integrated systems. Our staff engages in all program phases, starting from initial support with operational concepts, integration planning, and system testing, to design, development, and transition to operational events. We are recognized as experts in systems integration, including technology incorporation and engineering principles applied to realistic operational testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze customer needs and preferred solutions to effectively represent their interests in architectural decisions.
  • Lead trade studies to establish the overall architecture and interfaces for flight and ground systems.
  • Supervise concept development and feasibility assessments for solutions that incorporate new upgrades or programs into existing or new infrastructures.
  • Collaborate closely with emerging programs to formulate operational concepts for engine integration and testing.
  • Offer systems engineering and integration expertise to Blue Origin programs aiming for operational capabilities by defining and developing mission, organizational, physical, functional, signal, hardware/software, and operational interfaces.
  • Assist in the requirements for engineering models, simulations, test environments, and specialized testing equipment for all teams involved in system testing.
  • Ensure that systems are designed with human factors in mind for all processes.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Over 10 years of experience in developing complex, large-scale operational systems within aerospace, defense, or similarly regulated industries.
  • Experience throughout the development lifecycle, including transition to operational phases.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, with personnel at all organizational levels and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, clients, and suppliers.
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field.
  • Familiarity with export control regulations (EAR/ITAR).
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or legally admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience or familiarity with engine testing.
  • Experience with integrated systems, including fluids, structures, mechanisms, communications, and electrical systems.
  • Able to create 3D concept models and 2D plans.
  • Capable of developing a deliverables schedule based on available information, resource availability, and client requirements.
  • Able to generate rough order of magnitude cost and schedule estimates to realize concepts.

Special Notes:

  • Travel may be required up to 15% of the time.
