QTEC Aerospace is in search of a Senior Systems Architect to enhance our professional team. The ideal candidate will be integral to a collaborative group that bridges both industry and governmental efforts in support of a Missile Defense System (MDS), dedicated to safeguarding the United States and its allies. A meticulous approach, a solid track record, and a commendable work ethic are essential for success in this role.


Position Overview

The selected individual will play a crucial role within a multi-contractor team, delivering programmatic, engineering, and technical assistance to Missile Defense initiatives. As a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), the candidate will address the systems engineering requirements related to MBSE and broader systems engineering practices.


Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities for this position encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Analyzing use cases and systems engineering documentation, including the establishment of Epics and Features, to fulfill client-driven capabilities.
  • Assisting in the creation and evaluation of interface documents, system requirements, Verification Cross Reference Matrix (VCRM) development, architectural documentation, and engineering reviews.
  • Mentoring junior systems engineering team members to enhance their departmental skills.
  • Collaborating with various technical leads and product owners, interfacing with team members, management, and government representatives to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products.
  • Adhering to established DOORS processes and protocols.
  • Reviewing technical product content and details.
  • Serving as a technical liaison to MDA working-level counterparts as needed.
  • Actively participating in Agile development efforts, including iteration planning and status updates.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 14 years of progressively responsible Systems Engineering experience in developing, integrating, and supporting large-scale software-intensive systems, or a Master's degree with at least 12 years of relevant experience.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Expertise in complex command and control systems, mission analysis, performance analysis, and requirements management.
  • Proven experience in developing models to drive solutions in intricate systems, with specific expertise in DoDAF and SysML methodologies.
  • Capability to create logical and physical models that illustrate static and dynamic behaviors, performance, and interactions.
  • Experience transitioning a mature project into MBSE.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Cameo (or Magic Draw), Enterprise Architect, and DOORS for managing multiple product baselines.
  • Ability to work within an integrated team to develop and maintain the necessary baselines for an evolving BMDS System.
  • Experience in requirements solicitation and decomposition for subsystems and components.
  • Proficiency in maintaining system and component baselines within a requirements management system.
  • Effective communication of system-level use cases and associated Epics and Features to a diverse audience.
  • Skills in generating specifications for system/element level functionality, performance, and interfaces.
  • Foundational Systems Engineering experience with specific roles in use case development and requirements management.
  • Ability to analyze high-level needs through use cases/scenarios and relate them to requirements.
  • Strong communication skills for presenting technical approaches and findings.
  • Proven ability to implement engineering plans within projects.
  • Flexibility to support various tasks on short notice.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and prepare presentations.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience with Agile methodologies, including Epic and Feature definition.
  • Skills in logical architecture modeling and interface definition, along with knowledge of cybersecurity concepts and security accreditation.
  • Experience with Cybersecurity, the Risk Management Framework (RMF), and network design.

Security Clearance

Candidates must possess and maintain a minimum DoD SECRET level security clearance.
