This position is integral to the Test & Flight Operations division, which provides essential support to various business units, concentrating on the design, construction, and upkeep of ground systems, testing, and launch facilities across diverse locations.

As a member of a dedicated and skilled team of professionals, you will engage in onboarding new initiatives into Blue Origin's Test and Flight Operations sectors, enhancing our testing and launch capabilities. The TFO team offers a broad spectrum of testing and mission operation capabilities that facilitate the effective execution of technical and programmatic mission assurance activities related to launch and mission systems, ground equipment, and integrated systems. Our staff is involved in all program phases, starting from initial support with operational concepts, integration planning, and system test planning, through design and development, to build, integration, verification, and transition to operational events. We serve as the authority in systems integration, including technology incorporation and engineering aspects applied to developing realistic operational tests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comprehend customer needs and preferred solutions to advocate for the customer during architectural evaluations.
  • Lead trade studies to define comprehensive architecture and flight/ground interfaces.
  • Supervise concept development and feasibility assessments for solutions that integrate emerging upgrades or programs into existing or new infrastructures.
  • Collaborate closely with emerging programs to develop operational concepts for engine integration and testing.
  • Provide systems engineering and integration expertise to Blue Origin programs aiming for operational capabilities by defining and developing mission, organizational, physical, functional, signal, hardware/software, and operational interfaces.
  • Assist with the requirements for engineering models, simulations, test beds, and specialized testing equipment for all organizations involved in system testing.
  • Ensure that systems are designed with human factors in mind for all processes.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Over 10 years of experience in developing complex, large-scale operational systems within aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated sectors.
  • Experience throughout the development lifecycle, including transition to operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, with personnel at all organizational levels and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, clients, and suppliers.
  • Exceptional technical writing and presentation capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field.
  • Familiarity with export control regulations (EAR/ITAR).
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience or familiarity with engine testing.
  • Experience with integrated systems (fluids, structures, mechanisms, communications, electrical, etc.).
  • Able to create 3D concept models and 2D plans.
  • Able to develop a deliverables schedule based on available information, resource availability, and customer requirements.
  • Able to create rough order of magnitude cost and schedule estimates to bring concepts to fruition.

Special Notes:

  • Travel may be required up to 15% of the time.
