Role Summary: The Housing Assistance Program Coordinator plays a crucial role within Housing Catalyst, overseeing the coordination and execution of the Federal Housing Choice Voucher Program. This position serves as the primary contact for program participants, necessitating a thorough understanding of various regulations and internal procedures, as well as the ability to analyze data for eligibility determinations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Housing Catalyst waitlist to adhere to Federal, State, and organizational guidelines during the intake process, including the assessment of preferences, referrals, and pre-applications.
  • Prepare and process documentation to establish eligibility, including sending and receiving necessary packets.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of applicant and resident information to verify eligibility for the Federal Housing Choice Voucher Program.
  • Assess required income, medical, and other data to calculate housing subsidies accurately.
  • Interpret and clarify rules and regulations regarding eligibility, program requirements, and rights to applicants, residents, property owners, and managers.
  • Facilitate annual recertification for residents receiving housing assistance.
  • Ensure that leases, community policies, and addendums are current and compliant.
  • Organize work priorities and adhere to established policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively in English or Spanish, ensuring clarity and understanding.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional relationships and boundaries in all interactions.
  • Negotiate with landlords as necessary to obtain leases and contracts.
  • Keep organized and complete files for efficient information retrieval and compliance audits.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office, Outlook, and relevant computer systems proficiently.
  • Foster a positive work environment through teamwork and collaboration.
  • Exhibit strong customer service, listening, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Prepare reports, statistical data, or financial budget information as needed for audits.
  • Engage in training and educational opportunities for continuous professional growth.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of a Housing Choice Voucher Certificate or the ability to obtain one within six months of employment.
  • Familiarity with HUD, LIHTC, and affordable housing benefit programs.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Yardi.
  • Capability to analyze and verify data from multiple sources.

Residency Requirement: Applicants must be residents of the designated counties at the time of hire or be willing to establish residency within six months.
