Position Overview

The Alpine Racing Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily functions of public and private alpine racing activities at Snowmass, while also facilitating all operational elements of competition events across the four mountains. This role requires collaboration with the ASC Events & Partnerships, Snowmass Operations, and Ski & Snowboard Schools teams to ensure seamless daily operations and to foster the development of new race-related business opportunities. This leadership position is crucial in enhancing the racing culture within ASC and the Roaring Fork Valley.

The anticipated salary range for this role is $58,000 - $76,000, with actual compensation based on budgetary considerations and individual experience. All salaried positions are eligible for performance bonuses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the setup, breakdown, and maintenance of racecourses and event venues.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination with Snowmass Mountain Operations and Guest Services teams.
  • Organize, prioritize, and train team members to meet operational requirements aligned with business objectives and standard operating procedures.
  • Manage inventory and ordering processes for the race department to ensure equipment and supplies are maintained at optimal levels.
  • Assist the Competition Services Director with financial assessments and budget planning.
  • Supervise assigned race events and related programming, ensuring adherence to ASC standards and managing expenses within budgetary constraints.
  • Coordinate staffing needs for events requiring shared resources.
  • Plan and execute ongoing race operations, including NASTAR and Town Race Series.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for business expansion in collaboration with the S3 and Events Management Team.
  • Serve as a course/race official for USSA/FIS sanctioned events as needed.
  • Collaborate with various departments to enhance operational planning and product knowledge.
  • Develop and manage staffing plans in compliance with ASC employment policies.
  • Lead efforts in employee recognition, performance management, and disciplinary actions.
  • Participate in comprehensive end-of-season evaluations to identify strengths and areas for improvement, proactively planning for future seasons.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • At least 4 seasons of experience in the winter sports industry.
  • A minimum of 2 seasons in a role related to racing and winter events.
  • USSA/FIS race official certifications are mandatory.
  • A college degree is preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with point of sale and scheduling software, as well as Microsoft Office products.
  • Previous experience in racing or with a racing program is advantageous.
  • Snowmobile experience is beneficial.
  • Advanced skiing or snowboarding skills are required.
  • Proficiency in English, both verbal and written; additional language skills, particularly in Spanish, are a plus.
  • A current, valid driver's license is necessary.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This role requires the ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand, bend, or remain on your feet for extended periods. Employees will regularly work in varying weather conditions and may need to use protective equipment to mitigate exposure to the elements. Frequent lifting, pushing, or pulling of up to 50 lbs. may be required, either independently or with assistance. Employees must be capable of skiing or snowboarding as part of their responsibilities.
