Position Overview

The Community Engagement Specialist is dedicated to addressing homelessness through targeted outreach efforts aimed at individuals facing unsheltered homelessness who encounter obstacles in accessing essential services such as food and shelter.

Role Responsibilities

This role involves collaborating with Caseworkers and team members to distribute meals and basic necessities while providing supportive services to unsheltered individuals. The Community Engagement team prioritizes meeting individuals in their current circumstances, offering vital services and connecting them with shelter, housing, healthcare, clothing, and other necessary resources.

As a per diem staff member, you will have the flexibility to choose from available shifts, with the potential to work up to 28 hours weekly.

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include educational background or training in social work, along with experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness. Essential skills for this position include:

  • A positive attitude towards clients seeking assistance for homelessness and poverty.
  • The ability to engage effectively while maintaining professional boundaries with a diverse clientele.
  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Team collaboration skills.
  • Reliability and dependability.

Additionally, candidates must possess a valid driver's license and a clean motor vehicle record, as driving a van or small cargo vehicle is a requirement.

Compensation and Benefits

The starting hourly wage for per diem staff is $18.63. Staff members can work up to 28 hours per week, enjoy flexible scheduling, and accrue paid time off.
