Job Overview

The Bridge Family Center is seeking dedicated individuals for the role of Family Support Specialist within our Quality Parenting Center. This position is crucial in providing structured guidance and support during family visitation sessions aimed at facilitating reunification for families impacted by child welfare interventions.

The Family Support Specialist will oversee case management and actively participate in visits between families and children under the care of child protective services, ensuring that all necessary documentation related to these interactions is meticulously maintained.

The Quality Parenting Center operates daily from 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM.

Key Responsibilities:

I. Behavioral Oversight

  1. Supervise family visits, ensuring a supportive atmosphere and overall safety.
  2. Promptly report any safety issues that arise.
  3. Engage with families during visits, offering guidance on effective communication and interaction with children based on their developmental stages.

II. Program Coordination

  1. Upon program referral, organize and conduct an initial meeting with biological parents, children, caregivers, and child welfare representatives to explain the program, share pertinent information, discuss the circumstances surrounding child removal, assess current family dynamics, and establish or refine the visitation plan.
  2. Conduct assessments with each family to set overarching goals and collaborate on a visitation plan prior to each scheduled visit.
  3. Ensure timely completion and submission of all required documentation to all relevant parties.
  4. Communicate the family's progress to child welfare representatives.
  5. Coordinate final discharge meetings with families and child welfare representatives.
  6. Provide transportation assistance for visit participants as necessary.
  7. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or a related field is strongly preferred. Previous experience in case management or visit coaching is advantageous. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is highly desirable to effectively serve our diverse clientele. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to establish professional boundaries while fostering positive relationships with both children and adult clients. The ability to manage challenging situations effectively is essential. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required, along with the capability to complete all necessary documentation clearly and concisely in accordance with the visit coaching model. A valid driver's license is required, and candidates must possess or be eligible to obtain certifications in Adult/Child CPR & First Aid, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, Visit Coaching Model Training, and other relevant training as mandated by the program.
