Ädelbrook Inc. operates a licensed residential treatment program that caters to young individuals up to the age of 21, focusing on those diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Our program is recognized by the Council on Accreditation (COA) and aims to facilitate a smooth transition to less intensive care settings, including home environments and community living.
Role Summary:
The Residential Behavioral Support Specialist is responsible for providing mentorship, guidance, and essential life skills training to youth diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and related conditions. This role emphasizes the maintenance of a supportive and therapeutic environment while implementing trauma-informed care practices. The specialist will engage in therapeutic activities aimed at fostering positive behavioral adaptations among residents. This full-time, non-exempt position reports directly to the Assistant Director for Support Services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Observe and document residents' behaviors, fostering therapeutic relationships to support the Positive Behavioral Support Plan (PBSP).
- Instruct youth in alternative behaviors, promoting internal growth through proactive reinforcement and effective behavioral strategies.
- Utilize Physical Management Techniques (PMT) as necessary to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment.
- Teach daily living skills and assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) to promote independence.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation through the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Collect and analyze Antecedent, Behavior, and Consequence (ABC) data, maintaining thorough records of behavioral incidents.
- Collaborate with leadership and treatment teams, actively participating in the treatment planning process.
- Organize and facilitate recreational activities, aligning them with the individual treatment needs of residents.
- Transport residents to various activities, appointments, and meetings.
- Assist residents in meal preparation.
- Participate in all required training sessions.
- Adhere to the agency's Code of Ethics, exemplifying best practices and compliance with policies and procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Program Support Supervisor.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess an Associate's degree in psychology, social work, or a related human services field; a Bachelor's degree is preferred. A minimum of one year of experience working with youth exhibiting emotional and behavioral challenges is required. Certifications in CPR/AED, Physical Management Techniques (PMT), and Trauma-Informed Care are advantageous but not mandatory. A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are essential for ensuring the safety of residents. The ability to effectively engage with youth and colleagues from diverse backgrounds is necessary.
