Position Overview:
The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) is responsible for providing care to residents within a senior living community, working under the guidance of nursing and medical personnel. The role encompasses a variety of essential functions aimed at ensuring the well-being of residents.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Conducts interviews with residents to assess their medical conditions and accurately documents findings for physician review.
2. Measures and records vital signs and weight of residents.
3. Administers medications as per physician directives, including oral, topical, and suppository forms, along with eye and ear drops, ensuring proper documentation.
4. Engages in ongoing training and development through participation in in-service programs to enhance skills and knowledge.


5. Adheres to all personnel policies, community guidelines, and applicable Federal and State regulations, including HIPAA privacy standards.

6. Implements the Fire Safety and Disaster Preparedness Plan, ensuring readiness during drills and actual emergencies.

7. Performs non-licensed treatments such as hot/cold applications and vital sign checks, utilizing procedure manuals to confirm correct techniques and standard precautions.

8. Observes and reports any unexpected reactions to medications, maintaining thorough documentation.
9. Provides direct care to residents, fulfilling the role of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) when not engaged in medication administration.
10. Cultivates and maintains respectful and professional relationships with residents, visitors, and colleagues.
11. Completes additional tasks as assigned by supervisory staff.
12. May be required to respond to personal calls from residents in independent living.


In this capacity, responsibilities may also include providing First Aid, contacting emergency services, and notifying family members as requested by residents.

Other duties may be assigned by supervisory personnel.

Qualifications:

Educational Background and Experience:
Must possess a valid QMA Certificate in good standing with the relevant Department of Health, along with a current CNA Certificate.
Preferred candidates will have at least one year of experience in a long-term care environment.
