Key Responsibilities of the Certified Medication Aide

The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) plays a vital role in our community by:

  1. Administering or assisting with the administration of medications in accordance with physician orders and state regulations.
  2. Providing compassionate physical and emotional support to residents, ensuring their dignity and individuality are respected.
  3. Maintaining accurate documentation of medication administration and conducting thorough change-of-shift reports.
  4. Ensuring the security of medication supplies and conducting narcotic counts as per established protocols.
  5. Assisting residents with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, mobility, and nutrition.
  6. Collaborating effectively with fellow team members and maintaining professionalism in all interactions.
  7. Reporting any concerns regarding resident safety or well-being to the appropriate licensed staff.
  8. Utilizing safe transfer techniques and observing infection control procedures.
  9. Ensuring the cleanliness and safety of residents' living spaces.
  10. Operating necessary medical equipment and documenting services provided.

Additional Responsibilities

  1. Supporting resident-centered activities and assisting with sensory devices.
  2. Participating in housekeeping tasks and ensuring a clean environment.
  3. Facilitating resident transportation and communication needs.
  4. Engaging in dining-related tasks and attending staff meetings.
  5. Acting as a representative of our values and mission to residents and visitors.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Completion of state-mandated training and certification for medication aides.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Good physical health, capable of lifting up to 40 pounds and performing necessary physical tasks.
  • Successful completion of background checks and drug screenings as required.
  • Prior experience in assisted living settings is preferred.
