Your Opportunity

The Route Sales Representative plays a crucial role in selling and merchandising our premium products at local retailers. In this position, you will operate a Smithfield Foods delivery truck. Expect to work Monday through Friday, with a commitment of 50 to 55 hours per week, and the potential for occasional weekend or holiday shifts.

Core Responsibilities
  • Provide pricing and credit terms, and prepare sales invoices for secured orders.
  • Deliver products to customers, stock retail displays, and rotate inventory as needed.
  • Compile end-of-day reports on business transactions and communicate any unresolved issues to local management.
  • Maintain daily records as required by the Department of Transportation.
  • Conduct daily truck inventory and perform weekly physical counts, reporting any discrepancies.
  • Travel to designated locations.
  • Utilize equipment (e.g., carts, pallets) to unload products and navigate through stores.
  • Rotate products, remove defective or expired items, and process returns and credits with the receiving team.

Qualifications

To excel in this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of 6 months of experience in route sales, grocery, warehousing, or delivery is required.
  • A valid Driver's License is necessary, and a valid CDL-B Driver's License must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
  • Applicants must be at least 21 years of age as per federal regulations.
  • Ability to interpret various instructions provided in written, verbal, or schedule formats.
  • Capability to compose routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Must be respectful, approachable, and team-oriented, fostering strong working relationships and a positive workplace culture.
