Job Summary

The Registered Nurse - Student Health Specialist is responsible for assessing and providing for the health and nursing needs of Anchorage School District students. This role requires a high level of clinical expertise and the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Health Assessment and Care Planning
    • Conduct continuous assessments of student health and development status
    • Develop and execute individualized plans of care in coordination with students' families and physicians
    • Provide skilled nursing procedures within the standards of clinical nursing practice
  • Clinical Supervision and Support
    • Provide clinical supervision to licensed and unlicensed personnel
    • Collaborate with school staff to ensure effective implementation of health plans
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Communicate clearly and professionally with students, parents, and staff
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups
  • Professional Development and Accountability
    • Stay current with clinical knowledge and best practices
    • Apply standards of clinical nursing practice to ensure accountability and direction
Requirements
  • Education and Certification
    • State of Alaska registered nurse license certification
    • Passing score on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX)
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Ability to apply clinical knowledge base for decision-making
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Two years of experience as a registered nurse
Work Environment

The Registered Nurse - Student Health Specialist will work in a professional environment with a wide variety of individuals, including students, parents, and staff. The employee may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions and may be required to work in ASD facilities on military installations.
