Job Overview
The Senior High Crew Chief is responsible for overseeing the training and assessment of custodial staff while ensuring the quality of cleaning services. This role includes performing minor repairs and maintaining a secure environment. The position is associated with the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS).

Qualifications
The following qualifications are mandatory:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent; two years of relevant experience may substitute for educational requirements.
  • Successful completion of operations training or a crew chief assessment.
  • A valid driver's license.
The following qualifications are preferred:
  • Three years of custodial experience with a solid understanding of cleaning practices.
  • Three years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Proven ability to lead and collaborate with a team.
  • Experience in providing hands-on training with custodial tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets and Hazard Communication Standards.
  • Capability to interpret written instructions and maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to manage special assignments independently.
  • Skill in supervising activities and fostering effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Physical capability to perform custodial tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and measure facilities to determine cleaning production rates.
  • Distribute workloads among custodial staff and monitor performance.
  • Provide orientation and training to new hires on procedures and methods.
  • Ensure compliance with district policies and contractual obligations.
  • Maintain cleanliness standards across assigned facilities.
  • Deliver safety training and security protocols to staff.
  • Document attendance and performance, conducting evaluations as necessary.
  • Manage seniority rotation for weekend overtime assignments.
  • Draft memos and records of counseling, recommending disciplinary actions when needed.
  • Conduct basic security checks as part of routine duties.
  • Order supplies and equipment for custodial operations.
  • Perform essential custodial tasks while mentoring staff.
  • Utilize email for communication with operations and school personnel.
Physical and Mental Requirements
This position requires frequent standing, walking, and the ability to communicate effectively. Visual acuity is necessary, along with the ability to lift items weighing less than 40 lbs. The role demands the capacity to understand complex instructions, recall detailed information, manage conflicts, and make sound decisions under pressure. Candidates must be adept at navigating a diverse work environment.
