Patient Service Representative

This position is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and ensuring timely and accurate billing for patients. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide exceptional customer service to patients, responding to their inquiries and resolving any issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure accurate and timely billing for patients, including verifying insurance information and obtaining necessary authorizations.
- Register patients, confirming and updating demographic data as needed.
- Obtain copies of insurance cards, identification, and signatures on required forms.
- Verify insurance information to determine coordination of benefits and obtain authorization and/or referrals as required.
- Screen for non-covered services and waiver of liability (ABN) through automated screening at time of service.
- Inform self-pay patients of liability due and prepayment requirements.
- Collect patient payments and provide accurate receipts.
- Maintain department and/or individual work queues and reports as required.
- Prepare medical records for patient appointments by compiling information from various sources.
- Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abide by service behavior standards.
- One year of customer service experience involving interactions with customers in person and by phone.
- Professional manner and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated basic computer skills and data entry.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Interact with others by effectively communicating, both orally and in writing.
- Operate computers and other office equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.
- See and read computer monitors and documents.
- Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.
- May require lifting and transporting objects and office supplies, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
