POSITION OVERVIEW

The role of a Financial Services Representative entails managing all aspects of new account transactions, guiding clients in their choices of various accounts and financial offerings, promoting the Bank's products and services, and overseeing the initiation, maintenance, and closure of all account types. This position also involves performing clerical tasks within the branch, fostering business for OakStar Bank by nurturing strong customer relationships, and directing clients to the appropriate personnel for additional services.

Ensures adherence to all Bank policies and procedures, as well as compliance with relevant state and federal banking regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assists both individual and business clients in selecting suitable accounts, products, and financial services offered by the Bank; ensures opportunities for cross-selling are maximized through effective sales techniques.
  • Conducts teller transactions utilizing cash recycler machines for both lobby and drive-thru clients.
  • Engages with customers to gather necessary information; verifies proper identification for new clients; assesses the need for reference checks.
  • Determines eligibility for new accounts; assigns account numbers; completes necessary documentation requiring customer signatures; reviews credit histories; accepts initial deposits; prepares all documents related to checking accounts, savings accounts, and certificates of deposit for processing.
  • Utilizes computer systems to manage account activities, verify balances, and resolve issues within designated authority.
  • May represent OakStar Bank at various community events and functions to enhance the Bank's reputation and generate additional business.
  • Delivers exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries, investigating and rectifying errors, and resolving issues effectively.
  • Issues official checks and manages safe deposit operations, including account openings, access control, customer assistance, and report processing.
  • Handles stop payment requests and hold orders efficiently.
  • Presents funds received from clients to tellers for initial deposits; assesses fund availability and provides receipts to customers.
  • Processes credit reports, wire transfers, credit card applications, address changes, and orders for checks and deposit slips.
  • Collects data and prepares various reports and callbacks.
  • Answers phone calls and directs inquiries to the appropriate Bank personnel.
  • Manages DDA lines of credit and processes check guarantee/debit card applications, including card ordering and file maintenance.
  • Processes statements, renewal notifications, and interest payments for IRA and certificate of deposit accounts.
  • May assist in the daily opening and closing of the vault; aids in balancing vault currency and coin.
  • Trains less experienced branch staff.
  • Types routine correspondence, reports, and forms.
  • Updates addresses on returned mail and ensures proper documentation for correspondence.
  • Maintains organized files, copies, faxes documents, and manages supply orders and distribution.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The following specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience typically deemed essential for satisfactory performance in this role. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for effective job performance. Individual capabilities may lead to some variation from these guidelines.
  • High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 1+ years of relevant experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience should ideally be in a banking context. Educational background through in-house training, formal schooling, or financial industry-related curriculum should be business or finance-oriented.
  • Basic understanding and experience in branch operations, terminology, and products/services related to retail and commercial account customers.
  • Familiarity with applicable state and federal banking compliance regulations, as well as other operational policies of the Bank.
  • Basic proficiency in operating computer terminals and personal computers, including mainframe systems, word processing, spreadsheets, and specialized software applications.
  • Basic typing skills to meet the position's production requirements.
  • Basic mathematical skills: ability to calculate interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages; balance accounts; perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in various units of measure; identify routine mathematical errors; compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to apply common sense to follow instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and communicate clearly with customers and colleagues.
  • Ability to address routine problems involving multiple facets and variables in standardized situations.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work under general supervision while executing responsibilities.
  • Possession of a valid STATE driver's license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive while performing assigned duties.
