Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Operations Manager is accountable for overseeing all facets of the operational functions, including housekeeping, overnight cleaning, and stewarding teams, to ensure an exceptional guest experience through the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and sanitation in all areas of the establishment.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Oversight:

  • Conduct and lead pre-shift meetings for housekeeping staff.
  • Perform daily inspections of rooms to verify cleanliness and efficiency, ensuring that service levels meet organizational standards.
  • Respond promptly to guest requests and guide the housekeeping team in maintaining a consistently clean and welcoming environment.
  • Facilitate effective communication throughout the operations to ensure alignment on objectives and priorities.
  • Instruct and guide team members on daily tasks and monitor their performance across various departments.
  • Ensure comprehensive training for new hires to meet established performance benchmarks.
  • Foster a positive and dynamic work atmosphere that promotes outstanding guest service and cleanliness.
  • Collaborate with maintenance to address repair needs in public and guest areas.
  • Maintain ongoing dialogue with management regarding operational issues.
  • Propose and implement changes to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Act as a point of resolution for guest complaints, addressing concerns in a timely and effective manner.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and security protocols.
  • Manage procurement of housekeeping supplies in a timely manner.

Personnel Management:

  • Develop weekly staff schedules, adjusting as necessary to manage labor costs while upholding cleanliness standards.
  • Ensure timely posting of schedules and immediate communication of any changes to staff.
  • Recruit, train, and evaluate team members, providing coaching and performance feedback.
  • Address employee concerns and conduct investigations as needed, documenting all relevant issues.
  • Monitor attendance and punctuality, arranging replacements as necessary.
  • Complete necessary documentation for employee status changes.
  • Implement and oversee special projects and team activities.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in housekeeping or hospitality.
  • Preferred 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including nights and weekends.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills, with a proactive approach to assisting guests and colleagues.
  • Basic proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk throughout the day while inspecting areas and engaging with staff.
  • Frequent bending, lifting, and carrying, with the ability to handle weights up to 50 lbs.
  • Capacity to work in varying temperature conditions.
