POSITION SUMMARY:

The Residential Mortgage Underwriting Supervisor and Credit Officer (RMUSCO) is tasked with the evaluation and authorization of home mortgage loans while overseeing a team of mortgage underwriters. The RMUSCO plays a vital role in shaping mortgage loan offerings and applying credit standards, policies, and procedures to ensure that residential mortgage loans are originated and managed in alignment with the Bank's risk appetite.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Credit Evaluation (50%)
  • Assess and authorize credit applications submitted by various business units.
  • Provide independent credit assessments to higher-level authorities when necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to credit underwriting standards, policies, and documentation requirements.
  • Collaborate with business units to deliver constructive feedback.
Team Leadership (30%)
  • Oversee underwriters to guarantee compliance with relevant credit policies and guidelines.
  • Manage team workload and coverage to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Mentor underwriters to promote effective decision-making and timely processing.
  • Engage in negotiations with business units as required.
  • Coordinate with Operations to streamline the loan origination process.
Credit Oversight & Product Innovation (20%)
  • Monitor portfolio performance and suggest modifications to guidelines to adapt to market trends while maintaining credit integrity.
  • Conduct periodic credit reviews and grading to ensure appropriate risk classification of loans.
  • Assist in the development of new products and analyze their impact on the Bank's portfolio.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
  • Achieve personal objectives and contribute to the overall goals set by the Credit Group.
  • Ensure high-quality asset origination while supporting the Bank's growth objectives.
  • Complete all mandatory training related to Bank and BSA compliance, as well as other applicable laws and regulations, in a timely manner.
  • Respond to inquiries from internal and external audits and examinations.
  • Perform other assigned tasks as needed.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related business field.
  • 15+ years of experience in credit analysis and approval of residential mortgage loans, including FNMA.
  • 7+ years of experience managing residential mortgage underwriters.
  • In-depth knowledge of banking regulations and governing laws.
  • Able to prioritize tasks and work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills with all levels of staff, including business units and management.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to work in an office environment; sit for extended periods; operate office equipment, including a computer keyboard; and reach with hands and arms. Occasional walking, standing, and lifting of documents weighing 30 pounds or less may be required.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills; self-motivated with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management and staff.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Standard office setting with an average noise level. Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Specific vision abilities required for this role include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
COMPENSATION:

The base salary range for this position is USD $130,000.00/Yr. - USD $170,000.00/Yr plus comprehensive benefits. The exact offer will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
