Import Compliance Specialist

Position Overview: The Import Compliance Specialist is responsible for the meticulous coordination of documentation necessary for the entry of goods into the United States on behalf of importers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Accurately classify goods for customs clearance utilizing databases, standard operating procedures, tariff books, and other resources.
  • Perform data entry and processing of various import-related documents for submission to U.S. Customs, while managing limited Participating Government Agencies (PGAs).
  • Maintain up-to-date shipment documentation in compliance with all record-keeping regulations.
  • Adhere to international import regulations and guidelines.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams and departments to provide a high level of service to customers.
  • Process agency brokerage shipments efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with all governmental and organizational policies.
  • Execute additional duties as assigned, with paid training provided.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • No prior industry experience is necessary; however, data entry and keyboard proficiency are essential.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, and office equipment (phone, fax, photocopier, printer, scanner) is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Able to manage a high volume of work and handle time-sensitive tasks.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and utilize multiple systems and reference materials.
  • Interact effectively with internal staff and management at all levels.

Preferred Qualifications: This role may require overtime and holiday work based on business needs. Candidates must be willing to work Tuesday through Saturday from 3 PM to 11:30 PM.
