Position Overview:

The Senior Trade Compliance Specialist is accountable for the meticulous coordination of documentation mandated by US Customs and Government Agencies for the entry of intricate and high-risk shipments. These shipments are categorized as complex and high-risk due to stringent regulatory requirements and diverse tariff combinations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service to all stakeholders.
  • Engage with clients regarding commodities that necessitate specialized processing to mitigate the risk of liquidated damages and penalties through accurate classification and application of appropriate duty preferences.
  • Ensure correct classification of goods for customs clearance utilizing databases, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), tariff books, online resources, or direct customs consultation.
  • Conduct data entry and manage various import-related documentation for submission to US Customs and all Participating Government Agencies (PGAs).
  • Maintain and update all shipment documentation to comply with record-keeping regulations.
  • Adhere to all international import and export regulations.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams, departments, other FedEx Operating Companies, clients, and government entities to provide a high level of service.
  • Process agency brokerage shipments and manage remote filings.
  • Perform entry reconciliations and reviews as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with all governmental and organizational policies.
  • Follow up on customs-related issues and resolve discrepancies.
  • Execute additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Preferred qualifications include an Associate degree or equivalent experience, with a minimum of two years in brokerage and one year in customer interaction. Proficiency in data entry and keyboard skills is essential. A Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designation and/or a brokerage license is highly desirable. Required skills include proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, and office equipment (phone, fax, photocopier, printer, scanner).

Ideal candidates will possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, alongside strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities. The ability to manage a high volume of work and handle time-sensitive tasks independently with minimal supervision is crucial. Familiarity with multiple systems and reference materials is necessary, as is the capacity to interact effectively with customers, carriers, brokers, government agencies, and internal staff at all levels.

Knowledge Requirements:

A solid understanding of customs regulations and harmonized tariff schedules is required.

Work Schedule:

This position operates Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM.
