Position Overview:

The Import Compliance Specialist is accountable for managing the necessary documentation mandated by US Customs and Government Agencies for the importation of goods into the United States on behalf of clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Accurately classify goods for customs clearance utilizing various resources including databases, standard operating procedures, tariff books, and online platforms.
  • Perform data entry and processing of diverse import-related documents for submission to US Customs, while also addressing all Participating Government Agencies (PGAs).
  • Maintain and update all shipment documentation to comply with record-keeping regulations.
  • Adhere to all international import and export laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams, departments, and external partners to provide a high level of service.
  • Process agency brokerage shipments efficiently.
  • Handle remote filings as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all governmental and organizational policies.
  • Execute additional duties as assigned. Comprehensive training will be provided.

Work Schedule: This position operates on a Monday to Friday schedule from 9:00 PM to 5:30 AM.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required; no prior industry experience is necessary, although a minimum of 6 months of work experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency in data entry and keyboarding is essential.
  • Familiarity with MS Office, Outlook, and office equipment (phone, fax, photocopier, printer, scanner) is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Ability to solve problems effectively and manage a high volume of work under time constraints.
  • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision and navigate multiple systems and reference materials.
  • Experience interacting with customers, carriers, brokers, government agencies, and various internal departments is advantageous.

Preferred Qualifications: This position is in-office.
