Position Details:

The Pediatric Specialties/Hematology/Oncology/Neuro Unit at Duke University Hospital is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse. This unit comprises a 20-bed pediatric intermediate care area, focusing on delivering outstanding care for patients with hematology/oncology needs, general pediatric conditions, and medical subspecialties, particularly in neurology.

Work Schedule:

Full-time position with 3 shifts of 12 hours. Rotating schedules available, including day and night shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver professional nursing care in accordance with established medical and nursing protocols.
  • Supervise and document nursing care using the nursing process tailored to patient needs.
  • Delegate tasks and oversee the activities of both licensed and unlicensed personnel.
  • Lead nursing teams and act as charge nurse as required.
  • Monitor care environments and initiate corrective actions as necessary.
  • Engage in professional development and maintain required competencies.
  • Support the growth of fellow staff and learners through mentorship.
  • Contribute to performance improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program (Bachelor's or Associate's degree).
  • Minimum of 12 months of relevant clinical experience.

Licensure:

  • Current RN licensure in North Carolina or compact state.
  • BLS certification required.
