Position: Registered Nurse (Experienced)

Unit: Pediatric Specialties/Hematology-Oncology/Neurology

Duke University Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse who embodies our mission of Advancing Health Together.

The Pediatric Specialties/Hematology-Oncology/Neurology unit features a 20-bed pediatric intermediate care area. Our team collaborates to provide exceptional care to patients, adhering to Duke's core values. This unit specializes in hematology, oncology, general pediatrics, and medical subspecialties with a focus on neurology.

Work Schedule:

Full Time: 3 shifts of 12 hours, rotating between 7 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 7:30 a.m. or straight night shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver professional nursing care in accordance with established protocols and physician orders.
  • Utilize nursing judgment to tailor care plans based on patient assessments.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to other nursing staff.
  • Lead nursing teams and coordinate care for assigned patients.
  • Monitor the care environment and ensure the availability of necessary resources.
  • Engage in professional development and support the growth of colleagues.
  • Identify opportunities for clinical improvement and participate in related initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program (Bachelor's or Associate's degree).
  • A minimum of twelve months of relevant clinical experience.

All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing must enroll in a BSN program within two years of employment and complete it within five years.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Current North Carolina RN licensure or compact RN licensure.
  • BLS certification is required.
