Atrium Health Charlotte is in search of a Surgical Technologist Level IV to join our dedicated team in providing exceptional patient care.

Position Overview

This role is eligible for a sign-on bonus for experienced full-time Surgical Technologists with a commitment of one year. New graduates and part-time Surgical Technologists may also qualify for a sign-on bonus under similar conditions.

Key Responsibilities

The Surgical Technologist Level IV will:

  • Exhibit comprehensive knowledge of aseptic practices and their application in the surgical environment.
  • Assist in the preparation and organization of surgical supplies and instruments before, during, and after procedures.
  • Support the Registered Nurse circulator in patient preparation, supply assembly, and proper handling of specimens, ensuring efficient room turnover.
  • Adhere to departmental policies and procedures while performing duties.
  • Oversee the sterility of surgical supplies prior to use and ensure judicious usage, with accurate documentation of charges.
  • Monitor and document sterilization processes to ensure compliance.
  • Participate in staff meetings and in-service training, demonstrating awareness of current departmental issues and contributing to performance improvement initiatives.
  • Engage in educational opportunities to enhance personal competencies and professional growth.
  • Contribute to the development of departmental policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Serve as a mentor and clinical resource for less experienced staff.
  • Assist in the completion of designated clinical projects as required.
Physical Demands

The role requires the ability to work in an environment with occasional noise and exposure to various conditions, including dust and chemicals. The position involves significant physical activity, including walking, bending, and lifting. Candidates must be able to lift up to 35 pounds and possess good vision and hearing capabilities.

Qualifications

Applicants must have:

  • A High School Diploma or GED.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification for Healthcare Providers.
  • Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program or completion of a military training program in Surgical Technology.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in an operating room setting as a Surgical Technologist.
  • Current certification is preferred.
  • Compliance with the qualifications for ST II in the Surgical Tech Ladder.
