Position Overview:
The Surgical Technologist plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional patient care within the surgical environment. This position is responsible for maintaining a sterile atmosphere and supporting the surgical team throughout various procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Utilizes advanced surgical technology skills to ensure patient safety and quality care during operations.
- Maintains vigilance over the sterile field, ensuring compliance with aseptic techniques.
- Prepares and organizes surgical instruments and supplies before, during, and after procedures.
- Collaborates with the Registered Nurse circulator to prepare patients and manage surgical supplies effectively.
- Monitors and documents sterilization processes, ensuring all supplies are sterile prior to use.
- Participates in ongoing education and training to enhance professional skills and knowledge.
- Contributes to the development of operational policies and procedures.
The role requires the ability to perform strenuous physical activities, including walking, bending, and lifting up to 35 pounds. The Surgical Technologist must also possess good vision and hearing capabilities, with the ability to distinguish colors and depth perception.
Qualifications:- Current Basic Life Support certification for Healthcare Providers (AHA) is mandatory.
- Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program or completion of military training in Surgical Technology is required.
- Current certification in the field is preferred.
