Position OverviewThis role is essential in delivering exceptional patient care within the surgical environment. The Surgical Technologist II will utilize advanced surgical skills to ensure a safe and efficient operating room while maintaining the highest standards of patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Expertise in Aseptic Technique: Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of aseptic practices and their implementation in the surgical setting.
- Preparation and Organization: Assists in the preparation and organization of surgical instruments and supplies before, during, and after procedures.
- Collaboration with Nursing Staff: Works closely with the Registered Nurse circulator to prepare patients and manage surgical instruments and equipment.
- Policy Adherence: Follows departmental policies and procedures diligently.
- Supply Monitoring: Ensures the sterility of surgical supplies and accurately documents usage and charges.
- Educational Engagement: Participates in ongoing education and training to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Preceptorship: May act as a mentor and clinical resource for new staff members.
- Project Involvement: Assists in clinical projects as required by the unit.
This position requires the ability to work in a dynamic environment with occasional exposure to noise and various environmental conditions. Physical demands include:
- Frequent walking, bending, and lifting of up to 35 pounds.
- Extended periods of standing and the ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
- Vision and hearing capabilities to monitor patient safety and surgical procedures.
Applicants must possess a High School Diploma or GED, along with current Basic Life Support certification. Candidates should be graduates of an accredited surgical technology program or have completed military training in surgical technology. A minimum of two years of experience in an operating room setting is required, with current certification preferred.
