Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our design team at AVCON, INC. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assisting with the planning and design of various HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare project layouts and construction plans, collaborating with team members to complete projects with clear objectives.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of complete project documentation, including plans, specifications, and engineer estimates.
  • Evaluate, select, and adapt standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to project assignments, formulating and solving problems with guidance and direction.
  • Plan and coordinate detailed aspects of engineering work, working on multiple projects of small to moderate size or portions of major projects, using time efficiently to stay within budget and deliver on time.
  • Assist in the preparation of project scopes, tasks, budgets, schedules, project specifications, and engineering reports.
  • Assist with proposals, including bid documents, project reports, studies, and other documentation.
  • Receive direction on key objectives, guidance on unconventional or complex programs, direction on modified techniques, and new approaches on assignments with conflicting criteria.
  • Assemble permit submittals for City, County, and State agencies.
  • Perform basic and moderately complex engineering design calculations.
  • Aid in construction administration services and learn to respond to construction needs on various projects.
  • Assist with preparations for, and attend, pre-construction and construction coordination meetings, internal project meetings, planning meetings, and client meetings.
  • Assist in site observation work and compile site visit reports.
  • Draft departmental reports and correspondence.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 2-5 years' experience.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency with REVIT.
  • Proficiency with MS Outlook, MS Excel, and MS Word.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and clients.
  • Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, and follow-up on assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect privileged client information and documents appropriately.
  • Ability to work calmly and effectively in a high-volume office environment under pressure of heavy deadlines.
  • Knowledge of correct English usage, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Valid drivers' license and maintenance of satisfactory driving record.
  • Florida Professional Engineer licensure or Engineer in Training (EIT) with ability to obtain licensure within 36 months of hire.
