Job Summary

Houston Methodist Hospital is seeking a skilled Pre-Transplant Coordinator to join our team. As a registered nurse, you will play a critical role in facilitating and coordinating all aspects of the transplant referral, evaluation, waiting period, and peri-operative phases of transplantation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in department initiatives and collaborate with the interprofessional transplant team to ensure coordination of care for pre-transplant patients.
  • Facilitate and coordinate all aspects of the transplant referral, evaluation, waiting period, and peri-operative phases of transplantation.
  • Communicate and collaborate with physicians and the interprofessional healthcare team to facilitate and maintain compassionate, efficient, quality care and achievement of desired treatment outcomes.
  • Identify and respond to the clinical, psychosocial, and economic needs of transplant patients and their families.
  • Establish mutual educational goals with patients and their families and provide education and resources regarding living donor options, OPTN/UNOS regulations, and other relevant information.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Four years of nursing experience or three years of Oncology/BMT-specific experience for the area of specialty.
  • Previous transplant acute care and/or ICU experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles.
  • Strong assessment, organizational, and problem-solving skills as evidenced by capacity to prioritize multiple tasks and role components.
