Property Release Coordinator

About the Role:
The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled Property Release Coordinator to join our team in the Property Release Unit. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assisting in the release of property to defendants and complaining witnesses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Input requests for property release into our application system
- Fill out and process requests for supervisor review of deferrals
- Disburse ADA written responses to claimants
- Reach out to property release unit ADA to address complications that arise
- Explain property release protocols and answer related questions from claimants
- Answer phones and maintain accurate call logs
- Interact with attorneys and civilians seeking to have property returned to them
- Check IDs and subpoenas of witnesses and walk-ins, and direct them to the appropriate staff member
- Notify ADAs and Crime Victim staff of the arrival of witnesses and victims, and direct them to waiting areas when necessary
- Keep accurate and complete records of all witnesses in our log book
- Verify ownership of property
- Perform routine office tasks such as filing, record keeping, and data input
- Communicate with staff interpreters and assist Assistant District Attorneys to secure interpreter assistance when needed
- All other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- An Associate's degree or a High School diploma/GED and a minimum of two (2) years working experience in a law firm, governmental agency, civic, or community organization
- Ability to speak and understand Spanish preferred
- Familiarity and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented
- Data entry experience
- Familiarity with general court services preferred
- Ability to communicate in a welcoming and professional manner
- Excellent customer service skills
