Position Summary:
As a Family Services Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in providing support and guidance to families of trauma patients, facilitating discussions around end-of-life options, including organ and tissue donation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-call support to families, ensuring they are informed about donation opportunities.
  • Engage with hospitals to promote collaborative donation processes, offering families the chance to consider organ and tissue donation.
  • Conduct sensitive discussions with families, helping them understand the medical situation and the donation process.
  • Assess the readiness of the patient's legal next-of-kin to engage in donation discussions.
  • Advocate for donation while respecting cultural and religious beliefs.
  • Maintain high authorization rates through effective communication and support.
  • Document all interactions and maintain accurate records of discussions and authorizations.
  • Follow up with donor families post-donation to provide support and resources.
  • Participate in required training and meetings to enhance skills and knowledge.

Work Schedule:
This position requires flexibility with a commitment to fulfilling 12 on-call shifts per month, including weekends and holidays.

Travel Requirements:
Significant travel throughout New England is expected, with mileage reimbursement available.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in social work, health sciences, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in crisis intervention, bereavement counseling, or social work is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with families in crisis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn internal systems.
