Overview of Responsibilities

As a provisional talent acquisition specialist at the New York Power Authority, we seek an individual who is enthusiastic and eager to develop their skills. Your passion for uncovering exceptional talent is what we prioritize. In this position, you will have the chance to gain comprehensive insights into the processes of candidate screening, interviewing, and selection. Furthermore, you will employ various strategies and tools to cultivate a network of prospective candidates. Contribute to our recruitment objectives and help us identify the hidden potential of skilled individuals across diverse business sectors.

The provisional role may last up to three years, subject to evaluation based on performance and organizational requirements. Provisional staff members are entitled to:

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the complete recruitment process: sourcing, screening, presenting, scheduling, interviewing, selecting, conducting background checks, and onboarding candidates.
  • Collaborate with senior colleagues to build relationships with hiring teams to comprehend their recruitment needs and team dynamics.
  • Assist in discovering new candidate sources to ensure a diverse pool of underrepresented groups.
  • Cultivate and maintain knowledge of talent acquisition and HR best practices.
  • Document procedures, maintain records, and update candidate statuses in the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) for compliance and data integrity.
  • Represent the New York Power Authority at conferences, career fairs, and other recruitment events across various markets and professional communities.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Ability to exercise discretion, judgment, and professionalism regarding confidential and sensitive information.
  • Capacity to learn and comprehend relevant policies, procedures, laws, and regulations, applying them consistently and accurately.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent collaboration and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficient in effective verbal and written communication.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 Suite and social media platforms.
  • Ability to adapt to and work with various technologies and systems.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of recruiting experience is preferred with a high school diploma or 1 year of HR experience with a Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience in in-house recruiting within a corporate environment is preferred.

Additional Information

The New York Power Authority is dedicated to offering fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. The estimated salary range for this position is: $66,300 - $91,200. The salary offered will be based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
