Chief Operations Officer for Camp Ministry

Position Overview:
The Holston Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church is in search of a Chief Operations Officer for Camp Ministry at Camp Wesley Woods. This position is pivotal in guiding and managing the overall mission and operations of the camp, ensuring that all activities align with the vision of the Holston Conference.

Key Responsibilities:
As the Chief Operations Officer, you will be responsible for:

  • Designing and implementing ministry programs that reflect the core values of the Holston Conference.
  • Collaborating with the camp board to strategize long-term development and ensure financial sustainability.
  • Recruiting and supporting new campers and volunteers, facilitating their integration into the camp community.
  • Overseeing the camp's financial management, including budget development and resource allocation.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with other camp directors and leaders within the United Methodist community.
  • Ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards and maintaining camping quality as per established associations.
  • Reviewing and recommending policy changes to enhance camp operations.
  • Managing property maintenance and administrative operations effectively.
  • Leading innovative program initiatives to keep offerings relevant and engaging for diverse groups.
  • Providing leadership and fostering a sense of community among the camp staff.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Management or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in directing camp activities or significant leadership in ministry programming.
  • Accreditation from the American Camping Association (ACA).
  • Knowledge of the principles of inclusivity and experience with integrated programming for diverse camper needs.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with accounting software.

Physical Requirements:
Applicants should be physically capable of participating in various camp activities and able to work outdoors in different weather conditions.
