The Chief Nursing Officer is responsible for overseeing the nursing division and ensuring the delivery of nursing services in alignment with state and federal guidelines as well as organizational policies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Strategically plan, develop, implement, assess, and lead the Nursing Services Division, along with associated programs and initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulations governing long-term care facilities and organizational policies. This encompasses:

o Licensed nursing staff

o Nursing aides

o Orders from physicians

o Physician consultations

o Recertification processes

o Medication assessments and administration audits

o Scheduling

o Staff training and education

o Infection control protocols

o Utilization reviews and quality checks

o Maintenance of quality assurance logs

o PAE and PASSR documentation


• Identify and respond to changes in patient conditions, documenting observations, interventions, and outcomes.


• Coordinate and supervise the admission, transfer, and discharge processes for residents.


• Develop, maintain, and periodically revise written policies and procedures governing the daily operations of the nursing division.


• Engage in evaluations conducted by authorized regulatory bodies.


• Facilitate collaboration between nursing services and other departments to ensure high-quality patient care.


• Review, monitor, and document complaints and concerns from residents, families, visitors, and staff.


• Prepare analytical reports and recommendations for the Administrator regarding the functioning of the Nursing Services Division.


• Participate in various facility committees, such as care planning, infection control, pharmaceutical oversight, budgeting, quality assessment, compliance, and those assigned by the Administrator.


• Conduct routine rounds and authorize or lead tours with various stakeholders, including the Administrator, physicians, and regulatory representatives.


• Monitor the workplace for potential health and safety risks and assist in developing and delivering routine health, safety, and ergonomics training to prevent workplace injuries.


• Assist in preparing and implementing the Nursing Services Division budget and submit recommendations.


• Audit documentation for discrepancies and make necessary corrections or document reasons for any unmade corrections.


• Perform additional related duties as assigned by the Administrator or Regional Team.

QUALIFICATIONS:


• Maintain a comprehensive library of nursing materials to support the Nursing Services Division in meeting resident needs.


• Verify that personnel possess the necessary licensure and/or certification to meet state and federal standards.


• Inventory and monitor the storage of medical equipment and supplies.


• Execute emergency procedures, including Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

• Uphold the privacy and confidentiality of records and information related to residents, staff, and the facility.

• Proficient in standard medical equipment.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:


• Experience:

o Preferred three (3) years of supervisory experience in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other healthcare settings.

o Minimum of one (1) year of experience in total patient care and care planning.

o Minimum of six (6) months of experience in a management role within a nursing department.


• Education/Certification:

o Bachelor's Degree preferred; Registered Nursing Degree required.

o Active Registered Nursing License.

o CPR Certification.
