ROLE OVERVIEW:
The Laboratory Technician will engage in essential laboratory operations to support the professional staff and enhance productivity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Sorting and receiving laboratory specimens.
- Conducting routine maintenance on laboratory instruments.
- Performing tasks such as centrifuging specimens, printing labels, and recording data.
- Preparing reagents and media as required.
- Setting up specimens for testing, including building worklists and aliquoting samples.
- Executing quality assurance and quality control duties as assigned.
- Resolving pending lists and locating missing samples.
- Decontaminating work areas and performing safety checks.
- Maintaining departmental records and files.
- Adhering to all safety regulations and using personal protective equipment.
- Utilizing laboratory computer systems and managing biohazardous waste.
- Completing necessary training and competency assessments.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Medical assistant training is advantageous, with a preference for candidates who have completed math and science courses.
EXPERIENCE:
No prior experience is necessary for this role.

The ideal candidate should be able to prioritize tasks effectively and manage multiple responsibilities to ensure maximum efficiency. Strong interpersonal skills are essential for interacting with colleagues and clients respectfully.
