Lead Claims Expert

RSUI Group is in search of a seasoned Lead Claims Expert to enhance our Management Liability and Employment Practices Liability (EPL) claims division. This role demands a high level of specialized expertise in managing complex claims within the Management Liability and EPL sectors.

Engaging in team meetings, mediations, and trials necessitates a physical presence, as building strong, respectful relationships is fundamental to our ethos. This position operates under a hybrid work model, requiring three days a week in the office.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct initial and ongoing investigations into employment practices and management liability claims.
- Manage complex claims assertively on a daily basis, including litigation, high-exposure cases, and coverage matters.
- Deliver prompt and precise coverage assessments while collaborating with defense counsel to evaluate liability and exposure, and formulate litigation strategies.
- Review, analyze, and report on legal documents and motions pertinent to claims.
- Engage with coverage counsel on behalf of the insurer.
- Maintain ongoing communication and reporting to Unit and Team claims leaders.
- Participate in or assist with underlying litigation and coverage mediations.
- Provide comprehensive reporting on claims to unit leaders, team leaders, and senior management, including recommendations on reserving and action plans.
- Independently assess claim exposures within assigned financial authority.
- Attend business-related functions such as team meetings, mediations, trials, and company events.
- Perform various other duties as assigned.
- Juris Doctor (JD) preferred; a college degree or equivalent experience is required.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in ML/EPL claims handling is preferred, with a strong technical background.
- Prior experience as an attorney is preferred.
- An adjuster's license is required, or the ability to obtain and maintain the necessary licenses.
- Strong technical and analytical capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Proficient understanding of internal and external customer service.
- Current knowledge of specialized claims handling, legal issues, civil procedures, and principles of investigation.
- Experience in specialized claims handling, particularly in employment practices, is preferred.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel) is required.
