Position Summary:

We are looking for a Senior Marine Mammal Specialist to contribute to innovative initiatives within the field of Naval Marine Mammal operations. This role emphasizes the training of marine species, particularly dolphins and sea lions, to assist in critical defense operations.

Core Duties:
  • Serve as the chief handler for various marine mammals requiring specialized training.
  • Assume a supervisory role, guiding a team of trainers and managing animal interactions.
  • Implement advanced behavior modification strategies and training methodologies.
  • Design and execute comprehensive training programs and objectives.
  • Possibly oversee aquatic operations involving marine mammals.
  • Provide mentorship and technical support to junior Marine Mammal Trainers.
  • Engage in potential underwater activities as required.
Qualifications:

To thrive in this position, candidates should possess:
  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years in the field of marine mammal training.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or a High School diploma with equivalent experience.
  • Clearance: Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible for DOD Secret Security Clearance.
Preferred Skills:
  • Familiarity with free release training techniques.

Compensation Range:

The expected salary for this role is between $39,000 and $62,000, contingent upon experience and relevant qualifications.
