YOUR ROLE IN THE ORGANIZATION
The Senior Revenue Accountant plays a crucial role in calculating essential rebates, revenue accruals, and ensuring the accuracy of various reconciliations that facilitate audit reviews. This position is responsible for timely addressing revenue recognition matters and ensuring that arrangements related to the Company's revenue recognition are accurately accounted for. The role also involves leading development and training initiatives as necessary. Building collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across the finance department and the business is essential. The individual will perform related tasks and plan work assignments as required.
Success in this role demands a strong commitment to quality that permeates all areas of responsibility, alongside the ability to enable and drive organizational change.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Calculate and accrue customer rebates, affiliate rebate cost-sharing, intercompany commissions, and royalties while monitoring invoicing, payment, and documentation.
- Ensure compliance of rebates, intercompany commissions, and royalties with underlying contractual obligations, reviewing contracts for GAAP adherence.
- Prepare monthly journal entries to accrue revenue, deferred revenue, and expenses for specific product lines.
- Conduct monthly and quarterly research, tracking, and documentation of JSOX and GAAP compliance for revenue-related items such as ASC 606, Sales Orders, Pricing, Costing Category, and Systems Contracts. Prepare quarterly Accounting Memos to document rebate liability compliance with GAAP.
- Collaborate with Cost Accounting and Operations to ensure necessary changes are reflected in Oracle for accurate Product Line accounting and pricing as per JSOX reports.
- Assist in reviewing and enhancing various account reconciliations to meet national accounting firm audit standards.
- Conduct research on complex accounting issues to ensure compliance with current GAAP.
- Foster cross-functional and collaborative relationships with colleagues across the organization to support overall company, departmental, and individual goals.
- Provide backup support to other department members as needed.
- Assist the Controller with special research projects as required.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance from an accredited institution.
- Certified Public Accountant certification is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounting environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in computer applications, particularly advanced Excel skills.
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP.
- Significant experience with General Ledger systems.
- Experience working with national accounting firm auditors and effectively addressing their audit requests.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
