About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Crisis Services team at the Detroit Wayne Mental Health Authority. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to individuals experiencing mental health crises.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Patient-Centered Care: Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, ensuring that each individual receives personalized attention and support.
  • Collaborate with Healthcare Teams: Work closely with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Administer Medications and Treatments: Safely administer medications and treatments, monitoring patients for side effects and reactions, and documenting all interactions in patient charts.
  • Conduct Assessments and Evaluations: Perform thorough assessments and evaluations to identify patient needs, develop care plans, and track progress.
  • Communicate Effectively: Maintain open and honest communication with patients, families, and healthcare teams, ensuring that all parties are informed and engaged in the care process.
  • Document Patient Care: Accurately and thoroughly document patient care services, including assessments, treatments, and outcomes.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement: Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to enhance patient care and outcomes.
  • Supervise and Educate: Supervise and educate licensed practical and vocational nurses, nursing assistants, and nursing students, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
Requirements
  • Education: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse (BSN preferred).
  • Experience: One (1) year of full-time paid experience working in a behavioral health setting.
  • Licensure: A Valid State of Michigan clinical licensure: RN and a valid State of Michigan Driver's License with a safe and acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Trauma-Informed Care Experience: Experience working in a trauma-informed care environment, with a focus on providing sensitive and supportive care to individuals who have experienced trauma.
Working Conditions

This position will work in the DWIHN Crisis Care Center, a 24/7 unit that provides crisis services to individuals experiencing mental health crises. Candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule, including 12-hour shifts, and be willing to work with individuals who may be experiencing high levels of distress or agitation.
