**Job Summary**

The Governmental Affairs Liaison serves as the primary point of contact for the Judicial Council/Administrative Office of the Courts (JC/AOC) on legislative matters, facilitating communication with governmental entities and partners, and monitoring General Assembly activities. This role is responsible for coordinating judicial branch responses to legislative proposals, providing liaison services to judges and the AOC Director on special projects, committees, councils, and other groups.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Formulate and execute strategy for the Judicial Council's identified legislative goals, working closely with Judicial Council leadership and coordinating with trial court councils on legislative initiatives.
  • Monitor, track, and analyze legislation affecting the judicial branch.
  • Maintain an active presence at the State Capitol during the legislative session, including regular attendance in House and Senate Judiciary hearings.
  • Coordinate interaction with the executive and legislative branches on behalf of the JC/AOC and designated staff, department, agency, other programs, and external customers as appropriate.
  • Plan and coordinate meetings regarding agency-specific issues.
  • Oversee the development and ongoing management of one or more special projects consistent with agency goals and objectives, which may include staff support to the Judicial Council and its committees.
  • Provide backup support to the Senior Assistant Director to direct departmental operations, as needed.
  • Manage staff and contractors as assigned.
  • Liaise with trial court councils and serve as a speaker for presentations (including annual legislative updates) to court councils and other clients as requested.
  • Respond to inquiries from the public and government agencies and offices.
  • Participate in the planning, coordination, development, and implementation of long-range goals and objectives, as needed.
  • Perform job responsibilities on time and with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to analyze the operational impact of legislative and executive initiatives.
  • Ability to promote Judicial Council/AOC agenda through written and oral communications.
  • Ability to express ideas in a logical, concise fashion (orally and written).
  • Ability to work effectively with the Judicial Council/AOC staff, judges, elected officials, and other clients and stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and maintain discretion.
  • Must display a professional image and a high level of ethical conduct.
  • Completion of assignments and duties in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Ability to organize and manage program areas.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment to achieve goals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite (including Teams), Zoom, Adobe Acrobat.

**Minimum Qualifications**

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Three or more years' experience working with legislative and/or executive branches of Georgia government.
  • Political acumen and good relationships within Georgia State Government.
  • Possession of a valid Georgia Driver's License and ability to operate an automobile.
  • Ability to travel overnight, statewide and regionally, as dictated by the functions of the position and the business needs of the agency.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid work environment, including weekly in-office days.
